STATE LEVEL REGIONAL CONFERENCE FOR FORMULATING A STANDARDISED PROCEDURE FOR OPERATION OF ICUS/CCUS


In obedience to the direction of Hon'ble Supreme Court passed in C.A. No.8402/2016 & MA Diary No. 30408/24 in the case of Asit Baran Mandal & Anr. Vs Dr. Rita Sinha, MBBS MS dated 19.08.2025 and 18.09.2025 respectively a State Level Regional Conference on ICU/CCU was held on  physical mode on 29.10.2025 10.30 AM in the IMA House Bhubaneswar, Odisha, for preparation of a Standardised Procedure for Operation of ICU/CCU in Odisha. The Conference was held under the Chairpersonship of the Commissioner cum Secretary to Govt. Health and Family Welfare  Department, Odisha.

Many doctors and consultants with representatives of all the stakeholders i.e., the representatives from teaching/non-teaching hospitals, the Directors and Additional Directors from all Directorate of Health Sciences, like Directorate of Health Services, Directorate of Medical Education and Training, Directorate of Public Health, Directorate of Family Welfare, Directorate of Blood Safety,  State Medical Council, Corporate-run Hospitals, and experts having vast experience of managing ICUs/CCUs/trauma centres and emergency medical services etc., were invited.
Approximately 93 members attended the conference

The existing draft guidelines of the state notified in 2018 and other guidelines of the GoI were examined and studied by the members. The core issues were deliberated. After a brainstorming discussion a draft Standardised Procedure for Operation of ICUS/CCUS Government of Odisha was prepared. The Commissioner-cum Secretary to Govt, Health & Family Welfare Department finalized the report and signed the Final Resolution. It was decided that the draft guidelines shall be submitted to Hon'ble Supreme Court for preparation of the final draft of Standardised Procedure for Operation of ICU/CCU.
